Epiphone 68 casino reissue12/22/2023 ![]() Certainly the price diference at the time meant they had to have done somethign different to then usual practice. In fact so nice that the then new run of Traditional Gibson LP's I compared it to was VERY similar.at the time I wondered if the Epiphone was a dry run of the Traditional being basically made in Asia and then sent to the USA for the final "Made in the USA" legitimacy. There was a big deal in 2010 made of an Epiphone limited 50th Anniversary Edition 1960 V3 LP, with USA pickups and final tuning done in the USA. Realising that "Made in the USA" can legally be as little as assembled from chinese parts if they wish.which would just be a huge rort to me. Watch as they "upgrade" the whole Epiphone line (read increase price) with some made in USA, assembled from parts in USA and any other trick they can use to have "Made in the USA" stamped on it. This is the start of a slippery slope IMO. The pickups can be swapped in or out at any stage anyway, so wood and construction is the only possible differentiator other than country of origin browny points. ![]() This puts in sharp relief the country of origin ems unlikely they will be made of a wood that significantly enhances the tone. Not too sure I will be in for a USA one.what can be different than an Elitist one.that are already acknowledged as being pretty great?
